Simplifying Circle

I’m excited to announce that we’ve released significantly improved iOS, Android, and web apps.

Over the past several months, we listened to your feedback and got to work tweaking and improving all aspects of our apps to help provide the best experience possible. Here’s a quick look at some of our changes:

Simpler UI

Firstly, we improved and polished the look and feel of our apps. Over time, we’ve learned which parts of our apps you’re using and which you aren’t. So, we changed things accordingly. We simplified the buy, sell, send, and request experiences across all of our apps, and we made your account history more informative.

Cleaner Bitcoin Experience

One of the most common questions we’ve heard is: “Why is my balance fluctuating?” The quick answer is: it isn’t.

The confusion arose due to fluctuations in the exchange rate, which would cause our “helper” balance to fluctuate (not so surprisingly, nobody seemed to ask why their balance was increasing). To help clarify things, we’ve made our apps more bitcoin-centric, which means your non-fluctuating bitcoin balance will appear above your “helper” balance.

And while representing your balance in your local currency is helpful, every time you buy or sell bitcoin with Circle, you are currently doing it using US dollars. This means some customers were seeing three different currencies on a regular basis. Not ideal! So we streamlined the numbers to show your bitcoin balance in terms of US dollars always. As we add more currencies, they will become “helper currencies” available for bitcoin customers as well.

Faster sign up

We’ve also focused on improving our sign-up process, particularly in our mobile apps.

Gone are the days when you have to type your phone number (from your phone, mind you), wait for a pin code, and type in that number. Starting today, when you sign up for Circle via our iOS or Android apps, you can simply hit “Send” on a pre-filled SMS to verify your phone number. Viola! This is available for US-based numbers right now, and we’ll expand this functionality everywhere in the future!

And much more

We’re constantly making updates to our apps -- too many to list here. We can’t wait to hear what you think.

You can download our iOS and Android apps, or check us out on the web.
